WTH?? 10 PAGES LONG?!

This book was okay I guess I didn't get the opportunity to get into it because it's so short!! It's maybe thirty minutes long!! I'm so glad it was free. Hopefully the second installment is longer and much better.

33 pages does not a book make. Call it was it is, a short or serial

Okay, number one problem here is it's listed as a book. Book 1? 33 Pages? Hmmmm... should probably change that on your covers, it's misleading. For me, it's not a big deal because it was free. The rest of them aren't, they're $2.99, which to me is a lot for something that takes 20 minutes to read and isn't the most satisfying...

The sex was so/so but the rest wasn't engaging enough not to skim.

About the Author

Ralph H. Petrucci

Ralph Petrucci received his B.S. in Chemistry from Union College, Schenectady, NY, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Following ten years of teaching, research, consulting, and directing the NSF Institutes for Secondary School Science Teachers at Case�Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH,�Dr. Petrucci joined the planning staff of the new California State University campus at San Bernardino in 1964. There, in addition to his faculty appointment, he served as Chairman of the Natural Sciences Division and Dean of Academic Planning. Professor Petrucci, now retired from teaching, is also a coauthor of �General Chemistry with John W. Hill, Terry W. McCreary, and Scott S. Perry.

William S. Harwood

Bill Harwood received his B.Sc. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Purdue University in 1986. He is currently a Professor of Science Education at Indiana University, Bloomington. Previously, Dr. Harwood was at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park. In his current role, Dr. Harwood continues to teach chemistry and conduct research in chemical education. He has received several awards for teaching excellence. Dr. Harwood is also active in the American Chemical Society and the Division of Chemical Education and was a consultant to AAAS project 2061. He is involved in the science reform efforts at both the pre-college and college levels. His research focuses on how best to use technology to improve learning in chemistry.

F. Geoffrey Herring

Geoff Herring received his B.Sc. and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry, both from the University of London. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Dr. Herring has research interests in the area of biophysical chemistry and has published over 100 papers in the area of physical chemistry and chemical physics. Recently, Dr. Herring has undertaken studies in the use of information technology and interactive engagement methods in teaching general chemistry with a view to improving student comprehension and learning. Dr. Herring has taught chemistry from undergraduate to graduate levels for 30 years and has twice been the recipient of the Killam Prize for Excellence in Teaching.

Jeffry D. Madura

Jeffry D. Madura received his B.A. from Thiel College and his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Purdue University, He is currently Professor and Chair in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Madura’s research interests are in the area of computational chemistry and biophysical chemistry, �and he has published over 70 papers in the area of physical chemistry and chemical physics. Recently, Dr. Madura has undertaken studies in the use of technology and interactive personal response systems in teaching general and physical chemistry with the goal of improving student comprehension and learning. �Dr. Madura has taught chemistry from undergraduate to graduate levels for 15 years and has been the recipient of a Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award.

A Decent Ordinary Chemistry Textbook

I have enjoyed using this textbook. The text is not hard to read, and generally is extremely clear and easy to understand. It has plenty of examples, which make learning the advanced material much easier. Also the examples are related to the homework problems. The homework problems include "Integrated Problems," "Project Problems" and "Advanced Problems" These problem sets combine concepts found in multiples sections and previous chapters. I have only done a few of them, and while challenging they actually are pretty fun. Every chapter has at least 1 or 2 sections that discuss applications of the theories and principles that were taught in the section. Engineering students will appreciate these sections, as they are very practical and give a preview of the applications of chemistry.

buyers seeking the textbook used should know that they probably will not have access to online media material included. But I rarely take advantage of the online material.

I suppose it's a good book

I only used it for a general intro to chemistry course in college and quite frankly it wasn't used very much except for solving homework problems. Lectures seemed good enough but if you take inside the content is good and well explained. Just was possibly a bit much for my intro class.

tedious book

I had to use this book in a class at my junior college. I ended up switching books and teachers as well. This book is much drier than then most of the stuff their offering at universities. It may have been the best choice 5-10 years ago though..

My 3 year old loves this book. The illustrations are funny at the end of the story where the gingerbread man is actually "yelling" to the fox. I bought this as party favors for his birthday party. P.s. this story starts differently than the original. It does not talk about a woman who wanted a child so badly.... instead it just starts out that there was a man, a woman and a child ....

The version of the Gingerbread Man is good for first grade readers. The gingerbread man runs away from the little boy, the old woman and man, the farmers, a bear, a wolf and meets a fox at the end who just eats him up on the path - there is no crossing the river at the end. It's a good book for the price, and great for a beginner reader.

I love this version of the Gingerbread Man. The wording is set up for easy characterizations, allowing the story to come to life. The illustrations cover the entire page too.

I read this book over and over to my nursery preschool class, and they never got tired of it. With each reading, they seemed more engaged and began to say the phrases right along with me.

Excellent as a reference book, but watch out...If you've studied the occult for any period of time, you've most certainly heard about intentional blinds and dead ends written into this sort of material to throw off the dabbler (that's all I'm saying about that). It was well worth the $2.00 plus S&H I paid; it feels like holding a piece of occult history in your hands. A bit dry.

A native of El Paso, Carlos Nicol�s Flores is a winner of the Chicano/Latino Literary Prize and author of a young adult novel, Our House on Hueco (TTUP, 2006). As director of the Teatro Chicano de Laredo and a former director of the South Texas Writing Project, he has long been engaged in the promotion of new writers and writing about the Mexican-American experience. He teaches English at Laredo Community College in Laredo, Texas.

Outlandish. Offensive. On target.

In his second novel, Carlos Nicol�s Flores tells the story of Honor�, who runs his family’s curio shop in Escond�n, Texas (loosely based on Laredo, Texas). Once a drug smuggler, Honor� looks for something a little more fulfilling and turns to, at times, smuggling both weapons and humanitarian aid for various revolutions in Mexico and Central America.

Packed with humor and memorable characters (think Ignatius J. Reilly on a Quixotic adventure), Flores offers a brash and blunt assessment of the unique political and cultural landscape of the borderlands, where he manages to lampoon, if not offend, virtually ever demographic group.

Insightful and intelligent, this is a terrific read – if you can check your outrage at the door.

My first book in years

Being someone who never found interest in books, has completely changed his opinion. After reading Sex As A Political Condition, my mind has been blown away with its adventure. The book is easy to read, yet it is so well detailed to every situation the protagonist gets into. It's almost as if I felt like I was in the jungles of Guatemala.

The story is straight-forward. It's mostly about a simple man who helps a friend out (Trostsky) to deliver a convoy of huminatarian resources to Nicaragua from Escandon, Texas. The adventure Honore gets into by doing this is unforgettable. Also, the novel is hysterical, I found myself laughing because the book is that funny. "Muchas Garcias-or is it grac�as?" Had me laughing for a good minute.

Carlos Nicolas Flores wrote an excellent novel. I fell in love with every character, and the book had way more than I expected.

Flores thanks for this novel. It's amazing and well written.

You can't make mariachis without breaking a few huevos.

Recalling both Don Quixote by invocation and theme and also Voltaire’s classic Candide in its rollicking, sometimes misanthropic humor, Sex as a Political Condition explores machismo to its illogical conclusion. In doing so, the book succeeds as a pulp adventure story as well as literature, absent the affluent pretension of a Franzen or Roth. It is revolutionary in spirit and inelegant in ethos, equal parts hilarious, offensive, and insightful; you will read some passages aloud to your friends to make them laugh, and others to piss them off.
