You can't go wrong with Westside

Louie obviously knows his stuff and it's probably best you listen. Got a lot of cool knowledge bombs from this guy. Beware though, if you're a raw lifter, a lot of this stuff is going to sound crazy and you won't be able to do it due to the accessibility of bands and chains and whatnot.

VISION EXPLAINED IN LAYMAN'S TERMS

Those of us who do not have difficulties with sight can not appreciate the complexities involved in our vision. A person can have 20/20 eyesight, but still have difficulty reading from a book or copying from the blackboard due to eye muscle inefficiencies. This book explains in simple terms how the eyes need to coordinate to avoid stress when reading or working. Many times the child can actually be experiencing double vision, but is unable to verbalize that because he/she doesn't realize it isn't normal. That may be the only way they've ever seen letters.
Whether your child is already going through vision therapy or if you are considering the merits of vision therapy, this book will help you understand what therapy can do for you. I strongly recommend it for any parent who's child is having difficulty reading for unexplained reasons.

I was referred to Behavioral Optometrist by another mother who's son was having difficulty reading. The eye doctor tested my kids and gave me this book to read which clearly defines the seven aspects of vision. Each aspect directly relates to what we see or don't see, how we see it and how it affects our comprehension of the 3-D world, language, and reading. It clearly defines behavioral signs that indicate vision difficluties. Both my sons were found to have problems with 2 or 3 aspects of vision. We caught it early when it can be remedied. This book is highly valuable for every parent.

This book clearly explains the different types of vision problems that can affect anyone. Many of the problems described in this book are not routinely checked for by the vast majority of eye doctors. It explains how you can have a "normal" vision exam, yet still have struggles with reading and writing, despite having average or higher intelligence. If you have ever stood next to your child for hours, attempting to coax him/her to do homework until you have exhausted all of your ideas and yourself, only to have to repeat it again the next day, order this book. And take your child to a developmental optometrist for a thorough vision evaluation.

I found this a fascinating book, giving a short history of the black experience with christian churches in the United States. It was however, rather critical of the mainline denominations and seemed to focus on the adaptation of the christian practice and belief into a "black" church via the AME Church.

A Thorough and Rich Accounting of the Early Black Church

This book is a rich and thorough accounting of the early black church, beginning even before the Revolutionary War days. There is so much in this book that probably has been unknown to the average reader and perhaps even to the average church historian.
We have heard so much about 11:00 on Sunday morning being the most segregated hour of the week, but the material in this book will demonstrate why it was important for the black churches to develop separate from the white churches which would "rule" them.
The author had some shocking things to say about American religious and political life in the 1920s and about Woodrow Wilson in particular, but I had to remind myself that the book was written in 1921. We need to hear his comments! Carter Woodson has made a major contribution to the history of religion and the history of a people as well.

Dr. Woodson is one of the greatest historians America ignores. His straight, forward, truthful style is refreshing. He uses history to define the strengths and failings of the Church and then unveils the consequences/effects of them on the people. whether they be new converts or seasoned believers. he offers sound (and blunt) advice of how the Black community can thrive with the help of God, and the respect of men.

Scott Turow was an English major at Amherst. After graduating he worked as a lecturer at Stanford University. After three years (the early 1970s), a deepening interest in law led to a decision to attend law school. Legal matters were all around him. [Law is mostly concerned with property or personal rights in a society.] Scott chose Harvard Law School, the oldest and most prestigious law school in America. This book is about his experiences as a first-year law student (1L). This is "a demanding year, the work is hugely difficult and seemingly endless" and has fierce classroom competition. Nearly 40,000 students begin law school each year, the first year is uniform at American law schools. This book will give you an idea of what it's like.

After graduation Scott returned to his native Chicago to work as a Federal prosecutor ("Operation Greylord"). He later united law and literature by writing a number of books that were best-sellers, and were later adapted to successful movie dramas. Scott noted that Roscoe Pound had a single year of legal education in 1889 before he passed the bar exam. So why do they require three years before graduation? Is it due to monopoly power to extract more money from students, or to create a costly barrier that limits this education to the wealthy? Before the 20th century most lawyers trained as a legal aide to a lawyer to get practical experience before taking a bar exam. This necessarily limited the numbers of new lawyers. The rise of corporations in the late 19th century created a need for thousands of lawyers as employees of corporations. Universities began law schools to produce lawyers for corporate needs. Earlier, civil engineering schools were began to produce engineers for society; they previously came from the military.

This is why the law was seen as "the instrument by which the people in power kept themselves on top" ("Registration"). Law is a way to keep order in society, and prevent feuds and violent conflicts that would threaten peace in society.
