About the Author
Rev. Anthony Farmer is an Ordained Interfaith Minister; The New Seminary for Interfaith Studies of New York City in 2008. He also received ordination as an Interfaith and Interspiritual Cleric and Wisdom Keeper from the Order of Universal Interfaiths in 2010. He is a Doctor of Ministry candidate (2016) from The New Seminary Graduate Studies Program. Rev. Farmer walks the path of a mystic, shaman and teacher. For over 20 years, he has taught spirituality, self-awareness and discovery, shamanism and the shamanic journey, Reiki healing arts, and personal ceremony and ritual. Rev. Farmer is the pastor and visionary of Visions of the Heart Spiritual Life Center, an Interfaith and Interspiritual Community located in Takoma Park, MD. The focus of his work is “to guide people along the journey to their hearts and to reconnect to the rhythm, truth and light of their heart. He walks the Path of Enlightenment.

A True Spiritual Adventure!

What a spiritual adventure this book is!! Rev. Anthony Farmer's journeys are my journeys. The profound wisdom of the Elders speaks to me--loudly. The ready wit interspersed throughout the book is an added plus. I love how the author pays attention to earth's creatures and the messages they bring. This book is a must-read for those seeking to deepen their connection to Source, and the heart.

Expand your heart, mind and spirit

I just completed volume one of this incredible book of wisdom. Rev Anthony Farmer is a captivating story teller. Before bed each night, I read one or more journeys to the elders' cabin. It's amazing how these brief stories capture the imagination and expand the heart, mind and spirit...so much so that I feel like the elders are talking directly to me. The messages and lessons will be ones I treasure and return to over and over again. I am grateful. Keep it coming, Rev Anthony!

About the Author
The book I wrote is entitled "They Called Me Cochise" due to the fact that the Italian fans nicknamed me Cochise or Kociss in Italian. It's a autobiographical novel regarding my life as a pro basketball player during the early seventies, during the hippy generation. After playing at the University of Rhode Island and becoming one of the all-time top scorers and rebounders, I was drafted by the Lakers but went to Italy to play on the European Championship team, Ignis Varese. From there I went to Bologna to play on the Virtus team and, in the meantime returned to L.A. only to lose a contract due to drug problems. Through exciting life experiences described page after page we not only learn basketball history, including the European scene and the basketball boom in Bologna, but also analyze hippy principals and their resulting effects. Of course, some of the hippy doctrine like world peace, sharing and helping the disadvantaged, ap-preciating and protecting nature were positive but others which include attempting to achieve higher con-sciousness with experiences induced chemically and the promiscuity resulting from the concept of free-love were dangerously negative. This book is a realistic and transparent trip through a life haunted by consequences caused by the application of these wrong principals and in its ending offers an alternative that could be beneficial to today's youth. Because of its honesty and transparency it should become an important tool to help today's youth make the right choices. Probably the greatest satisfaction I have had has been due to the reviews that I have had from critics and writers who appreciated the book. A real life !

This book reminds me the golden age of basketball here in Italy. It is a fun easy reading book, a sincere autobiography. Young people must read it to learn how is dangerous a certain kind of life...But John makes the right choice! A book for all basketball lovers that want to know how was the life of a champion on the ground and at least in his life !

An Excellent Book

The book offers a fascinating insight into the world of European basketball. I liked Fultz's journey from the University of Rhode Island to the LA Lakers and then to Italy. It reads like the author is sitting around and telling his story which makes the book quite compelling.
Although the book is about basketball, it is as much about a small town boy whose great gift enabled him to experience the culture of another world. As we read of his Italian lessons, which start almost immediately after he his hired to play, we see that he willing embraces Italian culture while the Italians embrace him.
Throughout the book we see his successes and his foibles which kept me wanting to learn more.
When the book is over we learn and Fultz learned that the value of life, lies within all of us.
I highly recommend this book.

Fell in love with the characters

“She’s going to break his heart.”

This book was so good! I had a silly smile on my face after I finished reading it. I even told my husband how cute it was. By now, he understands my crazy love for fictional characters.

From the moment JLA said she was writing about Stephanie, I knew I was looking forward to her story. Remember, Stephanie is the girl that had a thing with both Cam and Jase before they met their true loves.

Steph has moved away from home and close to her new job at the mixed martial art center. She's carrying one of her moving boxes the first time she meets Nick. Nick is not only gorgeous but available. He invites her to the bar he works at and Steph can't resist going there. After a very passionate encounter, they both know the drill. Neither is ready for a relationship. A one-night-stand is the only thing they are looking for except life is tricky that way.

I was swooning all over the place with Nick. He had a way of showing his feelings with actions. He had this hidden sweetness, loyalty, and protectiveness that makes him so appealing to me.

As for Steph, she was a strong heroine. A normal girl with a normal libido. She wasn't mean or rude. She actually was someone I would love to be friends with. In a way, she was vulnerable too and I loved that Katie and Roxy were there for her when she needed support. I'm hoping Katie gets a book.

JLA has written so many of my favorite series including this one. I can't wait to read Fire in You.

Forever With You

It shows true talent to take a character who isn’t even on your radar giving then a truly beautiful, and enticing story. That’s exactly what Jennifer did with Forever With You. She turned one character’s flaws into something relateable, and matched her perfectly with her soul mate. I enjoyed this book for so many reasons, and one being it was unexpected, and with this series, each book is as different than the last. It’s a fresh romance filled with everything that makes us blush in the cheeks, and weak in the knees.

We first met Nick and Stephanie in two separate Wait For You novels. It’s a small world after all! I didn’t much like Stephanie. She wasn’t on my list of characters I would have chosen for their own story, but that shows you how much I know, because Stephanie worked her way right into my heart. We really get to know her, and understand her. Nick was a character; I couldn’t quite figure out, but wanted to. That’s where the mystery. You see; Nick and Stephanie are what I would call relationship phobic. They enjoy one-night stands, and not having to deal with the hassle of falling in love and being close to anyone. Then you throw these two together, and their similarities are jolting. They meet coincidently when Nick runs into Stephanie as she’s moving in, and helps her with a box, no that’s not innuendo. They smiled. She blushed, flirted a little, and hinted that he worked at a bar close by. Stephanie was insanely attracted to Nick, and goes to the said bar. One thing leads to another and Nick ends up at her apartment not to help her carry a box. They have a quick romp, and he leaves, neither of them having any expectations, but you might have heard of crazy Katy and her psychic mouth saying this.

“It’s her. The one you’re going to fall for and fall hard. Oh, boy, you have so met your match. Totally.”

If Katy says it has to be true, right? Yes, Nick has met his match. He knows it. Everyone knows it. It just may take Nick and Stephanie to get with the program, but when they do it’s magnificent. No, I’m not giving anything away, because the story takes off from this point, and you will be glued to the pages. It’s emotional, and endearing. Parts may break your heart in two, but when you get to the end, you won’t be disappointed, oh yeah there’s something super special at the end.

Stubborn, strong, hard, caring, are all ways to describe Nick and Stephanie. You wouldn’t even have guessed how complex these characters could be. They give as good as they get, and you will easily want to jump into the book and be a part of their world. Stephanie becomes that friend who always has your back, who you can tell anything to. Nick is the stand-up guy, who will protect you when you are in need.

Jennifer gives us what we need in this story a part from the sensitive material, we get the sweet, and humorous dialogue we have grown to love from these books, and the true passage into being adults.

Fans of this series will fall head over heels in love, and for me like every book I read from this author, I’m left wanting more, so much more.

In love with this series. I was happy when Nick was finally being given a book. He was always just out of reach and brooding in the background during the last two books and I really wanted to know more about him. I'm glad that Stephanie made another appearance. She showed redemption in this book compared to when she was initially introduced.
The topics covered in this book was very heartfelt and very real. The things Nick and Stephanie had to endure and ultimately find a way to ease the pain were hard but working through them together as they did pulled at heart strings. I'm also glad that Cam and Avery's wedding was written in this book. I loved them (being as they were the first couple in the series) and it was good to see their relationship progress the way it did.

Great Wood-fired How-to!

I recently watched an episode of Man, Food, Fire on the Cooking Channel titled "Outrageous Ovens". The first half featured a barrel oven in Oregon. I was fascinated by the oven which appeared to be highly fuel-efficient and seemingly inexpensive to build. I immediately began searching for information on barrel ovens and found this book.

It is a great little book; clearly written, nicely organized, and well illustrated with a wealth of information and resources. I like the fact that it takes in to account the varying selection of materials and approaches, depending on budget, climate and locale. The book presents the techniques in a manner that is not at all intimidating to someone like me who has little knowledge of masonry techniques. The book makes the prospect of building a barrel oven both technically and financially doable.

The other very appealing aspect of this book is the modesty of the authors. This book doesn't purport to be the definitive tome on barrel ovens. It presents barrel oven construction as a fairly recent and evolving subject and actively solicits participation and feedback by any and all.

I highly recommend this to anyone who has ever considered building any kind of wood-fired oven. Even if you are considering something grander such as a domed or vaulted wood-fired oven, this would be a great starter and/or companion project.

I will try to update my review when I finish building my own barrel oven!

Careful when buying this book!

Careful when buying this book. It does a pretty nice job explaining the masonry part of the job but tells little about the metal parts (and there are lots of special metal parts). Be aware that the authors expect you to buy the metal kit from their store. Towards the end of the book there is mention of a future second book covering the metal pieces but over a year down the road I've not seen it and I follow their website looking for more information. There are also quite a few recipes in this book which was disappointing filler.

food and fire - a book for people interested in delicious self-sufficiency

I'm very excited about this book. I read it in one night- from the intros to the recipes in the back.
I'm a natural builder, who's enjoying the way that cob earthen ovens are becoming so much more well known. However, there are two main drawbacks to the more common earthen oven system (where the cook builds a fire in the oven cavity and then removes the coals)...It takes hours for the heat of the oven to accumulate, and it's difficult to cook larger items, because sometimes the door size can be limiting (and if someone makes a bigger oven to accommodate a bigger dish of food, than it will take even longer to heat up.)
Eva and Max have built and studied many such ovens. And so I think it's even more interesting that they're so taken with the barrel oven system. It seems like a great alternative. They heat up in 2o minutes, and can cook a wide range of foods, and Eva and Max have shown through their own work that barrel ovens can be beautiful.
I appreciate the simplicity of the book, the careful diagrams, the open discourse with the reader asking for feedback and engagement to improve this system, the examples of barrel ovens that they and others have built, and the obvious love which they bring to craft, food, and fire.
For the people that consider the metal work of the project daunting, they offer resources, and kits.
I also like how their book brings me closer to the earthen building tradition in Argentina (which is where their journey with the oven started). People have already been exploring the resourcefulness of barrel ovens there for some time.
I'm looking forward to building my own, hopefully this summer.
